Deadline to Add Course(s) on your Schedule

Please note that some OHIO Online classes, in particular classes that do not meet the full semester, have varying add deadlines that are not published on the academic calendar. Therefore, it is important you check the specific add dates for each class individually in .

There are two add deadlines for full semester classes that follow the standard dates of the academic calendar. Typically, the last day to add a full semester class without instructor permission required is 5pm EST of the first Friday of the semester and the last day to add a full semester class with instructor permission is 5pm EST of the second Friday of the semester. Please refer to the academic calendar for the official dates.

Your graduate student specialist will help you navigate add deadlines and support your enrollment process.

Retaking a Course

In graduate education, all grades factor into your GPA — in some cases, you may retake a class, but it will not replace a low grade like you might be able to in undergraduate programs. This means:

  • No matter the grade, it stays on your transcript.
  • Even if you retake the course and earn a better grade, both grades will appear, and the original one still counts in your GPA.

It’s essential to stay on top of your coursework and seek help early from your graduate student specialist if you're struggling.

You should submit an online permission request if you need to retake a class to meet program requirements.

Online Course Permission Request

In some cases, you may need to request permission for a class. Unless the class is listed as permission, you must first attempt to register for the class in your Student Center and receive an error message before requesting permission. You can find written and video instructions on the Registrar’s website for class permission.

How to Find your Online Courses

OHIO Online courses use  as the Learning Management System (LMS). Please note that courses are published by the instructor of record; therefore, each course may be published on a different date leading up to or on the start date of the course.
