The ɫߣߣ×ۺϵ¼º½ Foundation releases 2019 Annual Report on Giving
Inscribed on ɫߣߣ×ۺϵ¼º½â€™s Class Gateway is Article III of the Northwest Ordinance of 1787. In 1804, this promise, enacted by our nation’s founders, gave birth to ɫߣߣ×ۺϵ¼º½, the first university established in the newly settled American territory. It’s a promise that stands at the heart of ɫߣߣ×ۺϵ¼º½â€™s mission and is a source of inspiration to students, educators, leadership and generations of visionary donors whose philanthropy not only supports but also endorses an OHIO education. The past, present and future success of ɫߣߣ×ۺϵ¼º½ and those it serves is rooted in the generosity of generations of faculty, staff, alumni and friends who have made the University’s legacy part of their legacy, including the thousands of individuals who gave to OHIO in fiscal year 2019.
The ɫߣߣ×ۺϵ¼º½ Foundation’s provides an overview of private support received in fiscal year 2019, during which 15,407 OHIO alumni and friends made gifts to the University totaling $29,658,802, exceeding the $20 million goal set by the Division of University Advancement.
This online report includes ɫߣߣ×ۺϵ¼º½â€™s annual Endowment Report, as well as stories of the impact private giving has on OHIO’s students, faculty, research and facilities. It serves not only as an official record, documenting investments made in support of ɫߣߣ×ۺϵ¼º½â€™s educational mission, but also as a tribute to those whose generosity both supports and endorses an OHIO education.
By creating and contributing to ɫߣߣ×ۺϵ¼º½â€™s endowed accounts, donors are supporting the University in perpetuity. Gifts made to endowments are not spent, but rather invested to grow the principal, creating earnings that are used every year to enhance financial aid and scholarship packages, support faculty, encourage research and creative activity, and inspire program innovation in accordance with guidelines developed in partnership with donors.
Established in 1945 by President John C. Baker, The ɫߣߣ×ۺϵ¼º½ Foundation serves as the fundraising arm of ɫߣߣ×ۺϵ¼º½ and is the repository of all private gifts to the University through annual giving programs, capital and special campaigns, and planned or deferred gifts.
